Scenes From Our Weekend

This weekend was General Conference weekend.  If you aren't Mormon, simply put, it's a weekend where members of the Mormon faith gather to listen to inspirational words and guidance given by it's leaders and prophet.  So this weekend, instead of us going to church, we can either go to the conference center to listen to our leaders in person, or we can stay home and watch it via the internet or through cable.  We opted for the latter.  It's also a fun time to gather with family and listen to the talks together.  Two of my favorite talks were this one and this one.  The first one being about a family dealing with a child with special needs.  Of course, I cried through the entire talk because it spoke to me for obvious reasons.  Even if you aren't LDS/Mormon, they are inspiring words and would benefit anyone who chose to listen to them. Give it a whirl, you'll love the messages about Christ.

This weekend not only brought General Conference, but it also brought my sister's twin girls, Lexi and Leah (I call them, "The Twizzles") out from San Antonio, Texas.  Their dad was speaking at BYU for its entrepreneur program and he decided to let them tag along.  He has an armored car business (Texas Armoring Corporation aka TAC) and has been featured on Discovery channel and various programs because of the company's success and all it's cool gadgets.  He started TAC back when he was a wee lad and has since grown it into a very flourishing company.

Anyhoo, he brought out Lexi and Leah so that the aunts and their Nana could spoil them and feed them chocolate for every meal (which we did with great success!).  They are just about the most animated and adorable girls one could ever meet.  In fact, I kidnapped them one night so that I could have them all to myself.  Here are some photos from our weekend of being entertained by these two.
Cousins.
This girl could Hula Hoop!
Lexi with her newest cousin, baby Summer.
Lexi was born to be a mother.
We fit in a quick session with Mike.  Lily buying time with Mike before she has to walk in her walker.  This photo makes me giggle.
Two days later, still working those hips!
When I told Lexi to pose, this is what she came up with.  She is so like her mom.  I should know, I dealt with that personality my whole life.  She is always full of life and up for a good laugh.  Love her... and her momma.
The girls spent the night at my house.  I gave them the option of going to the movies or staying home to play with the puppy and in Lily's wheelchair.  They opted to stay home.  They wheeled around in that chair for at least an hour.
Tonight I'm tired from the weekend and missing Martin (who is currently offshore somewhere in Florida).  Did I mention that Martin is finishing his licensing to be a captain to sail sailboats and catamarans? Last year, while Martin and I were climbing in the Himalayas, he and I discussed us wanting to sail around the Bahamas or through the British Virgin Islands for our next adventure together.

Martin's first love is the ocean. He already has quite a bit of experience, but he just wanted to get his captain's license so that everything was legit if we ever wanted to this on our own for our next vacation.  It would be so much fun!

Martin has been gone for 8 days and has a few more days to go.  When he has any spare moment on the boat, he calls me or texts me, but still, it isn't the same when he isn't around. The house is quiet.  Too quiet for my liking.  The pup is sitting in my lap, Lily is fast asleep in her bed AND I am counting the days until Martin gets home.

Hope your weekend was grand!
