I already see Lily reaching out more and paying attention a lot more than she usually does. Since Lily doesn't love toys, it's either me or a magazine (yep, Lily loves to just flip through magazines). However, with her new pup, she can't help but reach out and play with her new little LIVE toy!
Sometimes I can get lazy and give Lily a magazine while I clean up or need to get something done. I am always a little guilt-ridden if I leave her for more than 20 minutes without me running over and tickling her or clapping her hands together. BUT today, TODAY, I was washing the dishes and looked over at the "pup" and Lily just playing with one another, without any need for me to mediate. It made me a little emotional thinking that I brought a little more excitement into Lily's little life.
Of course, I am getting used to the whole potty training bit. Not my most favorite activity; however, I am already noticing little signs that our little pup makes when he needs a "breather."
Any ideas about how to make this process a little smoother, I AM ALL EARS! I bought 3 books to help me with my puppy training endeavors. One book is about Cavaliers. Another is called, 101 Dog Tricks, because this dog will be able to join the circus after I am done with him (however, the circus will not be encouraged). Then lastly, one book simply titled, Basic Dog Training, because if truth be told, I haven't a clue about where to start. So, advice is always welcomed when one (me!) doesn't know anything about training a new puppy! Help!
I'll post more photos of this budding love affair later, along with what we've been up to these past few days. For now, just look at the love already in bloom between these two.
Hope you all had a swell weekend!

P.S. Mr. Pup's new name will be announced tomorrow. Tonight, the two chiefs (Martin and Kym) are planning to have a concentrated pow wow session on what our little guy should be named. We have some good ones in the works. Is it customary to give a dog the owner's last name or can I just make up one? See, I am so out of the "know" about this stuff!
